DaoGen 2.1.0 released!

Posted by Luigi 18.01.2004 16:40

It took longer than I expected, but the next DaoGen version has now been released together with the new FastCMS version for TitanicLinux.Net site. The new DaoGen version finally enables the support for numeric Object types such as "Integer" and "Double" objects. Also, some small enhancements have been made all over the generator.

The API has not changed, so the new classes should be fully backwards compatible with other DaoGen 2.x generated sources. (of course the numeric object types change value object methods, if you choose to enable them, but the old primitive types are still supported - in fact I have no plans to drop the support for primitive types in the future, as they are the preferred numeric types.)

If you choose to use numeric object types, please pay a special attention to the JDBC driver you are using! At least for Oracle, the old production quality drivers that are distributed in "classes12.zip" file are not JDBC 3.0 compatible and will not work with numeric object types. The new Oracle drivers (which are distributed in "ojdbc14.jar" file) will work just great!

If you have any problems with the new DaoGen version, please post your comments here. I will fix the problems as soon as possible!

Some links to JDBC driver downloads

Oracle users, go here:
http://otn.oracle.com/software/tech/java/sqlj_jdbc/htdocs/jdbc9201.html
and accept lisence. Then download the file "ojdbc14.jar". This is so called "thin" driver, but it is the best (100% java, works on all platforms - Linux, windows etc. out of the box.)

MySQL users, go here:
http://www.mysql.com/downloads/api-jdbc-stable.html
and click the download link. This is the official MySQL JDBC driver, which is also 100% java and works on all platforms.

You can post more links to JDBC driver downloads for other databases below.

Hello!
You do not need to download daogen to use it. It is installed in TitanicLinux.Net and you can use it without downloading anything. Just go to http://titaniclinux.net/daogen and read the instructions. The DaoGen will ask you some some information about your database and then generate the DAO code for you.
